There is a manly and lawful passion for equality which incites med to wish all to be powerful and honoured. This passion tends to eleviate the humble to the rack of the great but there exists also in the human heart a depraved taste for equality, which impels the weak to attempt to lower the powerful to their own level, and reduces men to prefer equality in slavery to inequality in freedom.
Unfairness can take many forms. It can take the form of inheritance of property, it can also take the form of the inheritance of talent. Bur, from an ethical point of view, is there any difference between the two?

Friedman
equality was understood before as liberty to shape one\s own life thanks to equality of opportunity. Now the meaning has changed to equality of outcome. Everyone should have the same level of living or income, should finish the race at the same time. Equality of outcome is in clear conflict with liberty.
